Quilts for Kids

Quilts 4 Kids meets the second Friday, and the fourth Wednesday of every month at Westview school. We meet from 10-3 with a break for lunch. We welcome anyone wishing to join us and help sew a quilt for a child in trauma in the Bitterroot Valley. This includes kids taken from their homes by police, Dept Family Services, etc, children in the SAFE house, or the Youth Home, or those who go through Emily’s house, those in the Emergency Room or Pediatrics at the hospital, kids who lose their homes/parents/siblings from fire or other tragedy. In two months we handed out over 50 quilts, and hope that these fabric hugs have comforted some of our youngsters in this valley.

If you wish to join us please call Sharon Renfro 406-550-3528, and the somewhat coordinated coordinator will get your name on her email list to notify you of meetings and exact times. We also have kits for those unable to sew with us, so you can sew at home.

Those wishing to practice their quilting are always encouraged to use one or more of our quilts to work on. We always have quilts on hand that need quilting, that you are more than welcome to come get and work on, or pick up at any guild meeting. Or…..we do deliver!

If you know of a child who could use one of our “hugs”, please contact any of our members, some of these are: Nickie Goss, Marian Mendenhall, Peggy Peacock, Shirley Wheat, Sharon Renfro, Evelyn Hewitt, Jeanne Doyle, Judy Smith, Bettie Hammond, Kathy Thomas.
