This small group of quilters work on quilts that are donated to people receiving care from the Marcus Daly Memorial Hospital Hospice Center and Chemotherapy Unit. The goal is to make something for someone in need of comforting while receiving treatment for cancer or some other life threatening illness. The group was started by the late Dee Santarone.
To date over 140 lap quilts have been stitched with love by more than 20 guild members as well as others in the community. The quilt guild buys the batting and other supplies needed to finish the projects. Many of the quilts have been machined quilted by one of the six long arm machine quilters in the valley. Sally Bell, owner of The Fabric Shop & Quilts donated fabric and at least 20 quilts have been made from this donation.
We welcome anyone that would like to give of their time to come and join us on the 1st Tuesday, October through June, 10 am – 3 pm, at the Westview Center. A great group to join for companionship of other quilters and expand you quilting techniques. Call Barbara Bayer, 363-7949 if you have any questions.
